WHEN & WHERE

Monday the 25th of May at 7:00, Chris Schechner, an art director and cartoonist will present: "What can an art director tell a writer?".

Chris grew up in a small town south of Chicago, but has lived most of his life in Texas. He has worked as a hamburger flipper, ice cream scooper, grave digger, graphic designer, cartoonist, illustrator, and art director for children's literature. He’s the father of two children and grandfather of three.  Chris has been an art director for Pockets and knows the markets for Christian publishing.  In this program he will focus on what writers need to know that art directors know on getting published.

July 25th is the tentative date set for our Writing Workshop. Kathy Lay will be presenting on organizing and selling your writing.  If possible there will be another speaker at this event also.

POEM OF THE MONTH

Cleaning Poem

Anonymous

I asked the Lord to tell me
Why my house is such a mess.
He asked if I'd been 'computering',
And I had to answer 'yes'

He told me to get off my fanny
 And tidy up the house
And so I started cleaning up...
 The smudges off my mouse

I wiped and shined the topside.
 That really did the trick...
I was just admiring my work..

 I didn't mean to 'click.'

But click, I did, and oops I found
 A real absorbing site.
That I got SO way into.
I was into it all night. Sigh,

 Nothing's changed except my mouse
 It's very, very shiny.
I guess my house will stay a mess...
While I sit here on my heinie.
